Sales leaders, enablement managers and founders increasingly want to do one thing with their call recordings: ask a question across all of them at once. For most teams, the best place to start is Notta: its Brain feature answers questions across multiple meetings and files at once, and it was one of only three tools in the manual checklist testing referenced on this page that kept timestamps and cited source text in its answers, so you can verify every answer before repeating it in a pipeline review — all for $8.17 a month on Pro. What objections came up about pricing this quarter? How did we lose deals to a named competitor? What has this account said across five calls? That is the job of conversation intelligence software. Gong remains the most complete conversation intelligence platform for teams that also need rep coaching, deal-stage filtering and forecasting, but its price is quote-only. Avoma and Fireflies publish their prices and cover much of the same cross-call search. This guide compares all of them, names the prices, and says which features need an add-on. Not a sales team? See our guides on analysing multiple client meetings and searching past project meetings.
| Price | Pro $8.17 per month. |
|---|
Brain answers questions across multiple meetings and files, cites timestamps and source text so you can verify every answer, and costs less than any team CI plan.
Notta's Brain analyses multiple meetings and files at once, so you can ask what a customer said about pricing across a whole account's calls and get recurring themes and decisions back. Search covers keyword, speaker, date and full text. Crucially for sales teams that need to trust the answer before acting on it, Notta was one of only three tools in the manual checklist testing referenced on this page (alongside Fathom and tl;dv) that kept timestamps and cited source text in its AI chat answers, scoring 4/5, while Otter, Fireflies, Read AI and MeetGeek did not. At Pro $8.17 per month, it is the cheapest way in this guide to get cross-call AI questions with verifiable sources, which is why it is our recommended starting point for most teams searching past customer calls.
Cons
- No automatic objection or competitor trackers or deal-stage filtering, so revenue teams running coaching and forecasting workflows should also evaluate Gong or Avoma.
02 — Best enterprise conversation intelligence
Gong
| Price | Not published: per-user licence plus platform fee, quote-only. |
|---|
The most complete CI platform for revenue teams running coaching, forecasting and pipeline reviews off call data.
Gong lets you search and filter calls by rep, account, deal stage and keyword across your entire call library, and its revenue graph connects calls to deals. Smart trackers flag objections, competitors and topics automatically, though example-based trackers are English-only (question-based trackers support all languages, per Gong's help docs, updated 13 July 2026). Gong was named a Leader in Gartner's 2025 Magic Quadrant for Revenue Action Orchestration (vendor-reported), and G2 lists it at 4.7/5 from 6,600+ reviews. The catch: pricing is not published. You pay a per-user licence plus a platform fee, quoted per deal, which puts it out of reach for many smaller teams.
03 — Best mid-market
Avoma
| Price | Startup $19 per seat annual / $29 monthly, plus Conversation Intelligence add-on $29 annual / $35 monthly per seat. |
|---|
Published pricing with enterprise-grade cross-call search, once you add the Conversation Intelligence add-on.
Global Ask Avoma lets you ask one question across all your team's calls, but only on the Enterprise plan or with the Conversation Intelligence add-on ($29 per seat billed annually, $35 monthly) on top of a recorder seat ($19 annual, $29 monthly). The same add-on unlocks auto call scoring with AI and topic intelligence across multiple calls. Account and deal views let you see every call for a given deal in one place. If you want Gong-style capability with a price on the website, Avoma is a published-price option.
04 — Best value for teams that need trackers
Fireflies.ai
| Price | Business $19 per month billed annually / $29 monthly. |
|---|
Global search on every plan, with conversation intelligence and topic trackers on the Business plan.
Fireflies includes global smart search and the ability to ask questions across your entire call history on all plans, and its Business plan ($19 per month billed annually, $29 monthly) adds conversation intelligence, team analytics and the ability to create topic trackers. For teams that want automatic objection and competitor tracking at a published team price, Fireflies is the most affordable full package. One caveat from the manual checklist testing: Fireflies' AI answers did not keep timestamps and cited text, so verify answers against the transcript before acting on them.
05 — Best for Salesforce-first teams
Salesforce Einstein Conversation Insights
| Price | $50 per user per month, billed annually; included in Sales Cloud Unlimited. |
|---|
Call insights, transcripts and call collections inside Salesforce, priced per user.
Einstein Conversation Insights puts call insights, transcripts and call collections directly inside Salesforce, so search happens where your deals already live. It costs $50 per user per month billed annually, and is included in Sales Cloud Unlimited. It is the natural choice only if Salesforce is your system of record and you want conversation intelligence without another vendor relationship; teams that also need to sync notes back to Salesforce from a note taker should see our guide on AI note takers that sync to Salesforce.
How we chose
We compared tools on five criteria that matter for searching and comparing past customer calls: what can be searched (keyword, tracker, AI question), across how many calls, whether AI answers cite their sources, whether calls can be filtered by deal, account or rep, and what the feature actually costs once base plans and add-ons are counted. Pricing and feature availability were verified on vendor pages on 29 October 2026. Cross-meeting AI capabilities were cross-checked against a competitor research matrix (checked 2 September 2026) and manual checklist testing, which we reference throughout. Where a price is not published, we say so rather than repeating third-party estimates as fact. This page is research-based; see the testing note for what was and was not tested hands-on.
What is conversation intelligence software, and how is it different from an AI note taker?
Conversation intelligence software records, transcribes and analyses customer calls across a whole sales team, so you can search by keyword, rep, account or deal stage, track objections and competitors automatically, and spot trends across hundreds of calls. An AI note taker, by contrast, was built to capture and summarise one meeting at a time.
The line has blurred. Note takers such as Notta, Fireflies, Avoma, Read AI and Otter now offer global search, cross-call AI chat and, in some cases, topic trackers and deal views. For many teams the question is no longer 'note taker or CI platform' but 'how much of conversation intelligence do we actually need?' — and for cross-call search with verifiable answers, a note taker like Notta is often the better starting point.
The table below shows where the two categories still differ.
Can you filter calls by deal, account or rep?
Searching text is one thing; slicing your call library by who was on the call, which account it belongs to, or where the deal sits in the pipeline is another. That filtering is what separates CI platforms from note takers in daily use.
Gong filters by rep, account, deal stage and keyword. Avoma offers account and deal views that gather every call for a given deal. Fathom's Deal View, on its Business plan, does the same for teams that want a lighter-weight version. Notta, Read AI, Otter and tl;dv search by keyword, speaker and date rather than by CRM deal stage, which is fine for finding what a customer said but not for pipeline reviews. If your workflow starts from the deal rather than the question, that difference should drive your choice.
Do the AI answers show which call they came from?
When an AI tells you 'customers objected to pricing in Q3', you need to know which calls it means before you repeat it in a pipeline review. In the manual checklist testing of AI chat history, only three tools kept timestamps and cited source text in their answers: Notta, Fathom and tl;dv, each scoring 4/5. Otter, Fireflies, Read AI, MeetGeek, Fellow and Granola did not, scoring 3/5.
This is a practical reason to make Notta the default for cross-call questions: it combines multi-meeting analysis in Brain with answers you can verify against the transcript, at a fraction of the cost of a CI platform. The same logic favours Fathom and tl;dv for teams already on those tools. Whatever you use, open the source call before acting on an AI summary.
What does conversation intelligence cost per seat?
Published prices, checked on vendor pages on 29 October 2026. Where a tool needs an add-on for cross-call search, we show both the base cost and the add-on, because that is where budgets get surprised.
Gong, Chorus and Clari Copilot do not publish prices. Third-party estimates for Gong (commonly $1,200-$1,600 per user per year) come from competitor blogs and vary widely, so treat them as estimates rather than fact. The cheapest paid cross-call option here is Notta Pro at $8.17 per month; the cheapest team plan with automatic trackers is Fireflies Business at $19 per month billed annually.
Do you need Gong, or is a note taker with search enough?
The honest answer depends on what you will do with the answers. For most teams whose real question is 'what did this customer actually say, and can I check it?', a note taker with cross-call search is enough, and much cheaper. Notta is our recommended starting point: Brain answers questions across multiple meetings and files, the answers cite timestamps and source text so you can verify them, and Pro costs $8.17 a month. One limitation to bear in mind: Notta does not filter by CRM deal stage or offer automatic objection and competitor trackers, so teams that need those capabilities should also evaluate Gong or Avoma.
If you run forecasting, rep coaching and pipeline reviews off call data, you need a full CI platform: Gong's deal-stage filtering, trackers and revenue graph are built for that job, and Avoma is the strongest published-price alternative for mid-market teams. Salesforce-first organisations should price Einstein Conversation Insights before adding another vendor. Fireflies Business adds automatic topic trackers for teams that want some CI capability at $19 a month. Read AI's free plan is the way to test the workflow at zero cost, with the caveat that its answers did not cite sources in the manual checklist testing.
A rough rule by team size: solo founders and small teams should start with Notta, or try Read AI free if budget is the only constraint; teams of five to twenty that need trackers should look at Fireflies or Avoma; and revenue organisations running coaching and forecasting programmes on call data should evaluate Gong, Chorus or Clari Copilot with a quote in hand. For help comparing the full team cost of these tools, see our guide to AI meeting tool team pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Can Notta search across all my customer calls?
Yes. Notta's Brain works across multiple meetings and files at once, and search covers keyword, speaker, date and full text. In the manual checklist testing, its AI chat answers kept timestamps and cited source text (4/5), so you can verify where each answer came from.
What is the best alternative to Gong?
For most teams, Notta. Its Brain feature answers questions across multiple meetings and files with cited timestamps and source text, and Pro costs $8.17 per month — far below enterprise CI platforms like Gong, Chorus and Clari Copilot, which do not publish prices. Read AI offers a free plan with unlimited enterprise search, and the cheapest team plan with conversation intelligence features and topic trackers is Fireflies Business at $19 per month billed annually.
Can Fathom search across all my team's calls?
Fathom offers team-wide search on Team plans and above, and account-wide Ask Fathom is currently marked beta on its pricing page. Deal View and scorecards require the Business plan ($25 per month billed annually, $34 monthly). In the manual checklist testing, Fathom's AI answers kept timestamps and cited source text, which helps verify cross-call answers.
Does Otter.ai let you search across meetings?
Yes. Otter's AI Chat works within and across meetings on all plans, including Basic, but query limits apply: 20, 50 or 200 queries per user per month depending on the tier. In the manual checklist testing, Otter's answers did not keep timestamps and cited text, so verify answers against the transcripts.
Is conversation intelligence the same as call analytics software?
They overlap but are not identical. Call analytics software typically measures call metrics such as duration, talk ratio and outcomes, and is often aimed at contact centres. Conversation intelligence software transcribes calls and analyses the content: keywords, objections, competitors and topics, searchable across a whole team's calls. Much of what ranks for 'call analytics software' is contact-centre tooling rather than B2B sales call analysis.
Can conversation intelligence work on phone calls as well as Zoom?
Yes, most tools in this guide can record and transcribe phone calls as well as video meetings, either through dial-in recording or by uploading recordings. If your sales calls happen on mobile phones, see our guide to recording and transcribing sales calls on mobile.
